For several decades in Ukraine kept stable demand on grooms from abroad. Where do our countrywomen search for their happiness and the most important, do they find it? There are at least 4 international dating agencies in Kremenchug city. The “Weekend” visited one of them to find out is it worth to believe in the fairy tale about foreign prince?
After the fall of the iron curtain, countries of the former Soviet Union were covered with the first wave of foreign marriages. Not so long ago in the aftermath of the economic crisis of 2008 our women became involved in search for foreign husband again. Currently, the situation has not changed: the interest of Ukrainian women to men from abroad does not recede. Those who ventured to the foreigner does not listen to the scary stories about sexual slavery or severe adaptation in foreign country. These women believe that their personal story will be just like a fairy tale: handsome prince, romantic relationships, luxury house and next on the list all the joys of life will fall at their feet. Frankly speaking, those who believe in the fairy tale- get it very often.
In general, after a meeting with the administrator of the International Dating Club “Veronika” Alena Gumeniuk we pictured the real image of the prospect of marriage with a foreigner.

The global network has helped in many cases to find their happiness, but wedding agencies and dating clubs continue to be popular. Why?
Firstly, this agency collects official data about men and therefore there are less risk for the ladies to get a bunch of problems instead of pleasant dating. Secondly, employees of the agencies have extensive experience and insight about the real intentions of the customers. They are interested in helping either men or women, although only the strong sex pays for the services.- We are helping women with photos they are going to post: kind and good smile is necessary, no jeans allowed – just a dress. Everyone knows that men choose partner in life primarily for appearance- Alena Gumeniuk says. – And then correspondence begins. It is all going only through the Agency till the first meeting. Our Club works with men from the United States, Canada and Australia, so the possible date is not usually happens soon – it may take at least a month and sometimes it takes a year. You have to understand that not all of the men are so rich to find several thousands of dollars for a trip and leave their job for some time.

By the way members are always get advice not to be obsessed on one lady and to plan date with few of them, because only real meeting will show how justified are expectations.
-Also we take care of women’s interests – continues Alena Gumeniuk. – The first date must be presented by the agency employee. One more important rule – neither man nor woman consume alcohol in this evening.
According to Alena Gumeniuk, not every meeting has continuation, but marriages are celebrated annually. It was uncountable quantity of them over 4 years of the club working in Kremenchug. According to unofficial data every year thousands of women leave Ukraine and 10 thousands are married with foreigners.
What women are looking for?
In the vast majority women want a reliable partner and a comfortable life. First of all they look at the occupation and place of residence (even in the United States you can get into smoldering village, although some of the ladies and looking for the farmers). But still money is not the main argument.. Women’s soul needs trusting relations and mutual understanding.
What do men want?
Foreigners who are looking for a wife appreciate Ukrainian ladies because our women are not simply agree to grow children and fully immerse themselves in the care of the family- it’s because for them it is a real female happiness. Men have wide variety to choose from. Dating Club say that mostly it is girls of 20-25 years old and women from 30 to 40 years who join their club. But mostly men over 45 years old are making propositions. There are younger grooms on the sites too, but they are simply limited to correspondence and not too active with arranging appointment.

In dating clubs there is contingent of regular suitors that travel to Ukraine during many years for the period of vacation. Women warned not to expect serious relationship with this man. Not all girls want to get married. Sometimes there are “eternal” brides in wedding agencies. This is the girls and women who have got acquainted with men for the sake of romantic adventure, shared gifts and trips abroad. Also there are more serious ladies, who found the way to work abroad and stay to live together, but does not plan to the link with bonds of Hymen.
