Hair Stereotypes – What Are the Popular?

Hi everyone! Let’s talk today about hair stereotypes! Have you ever thought that people can be different depending on color of their hair? Do you believe red-heads hot-tempered and excited? Do you think blondes are dumb bimbos and ditzy? Do you consider brunettes smart, highly-professional and confident or curly-haired are bubbly? The origin of these beliefs is lost, but all these are pure hair stereotypes that some people carefully follow. It’s time to find out if they are still valid.

Blondes

Let’s start with the stereotypes of blond hair. Blondes have more fun. Gentlemen prefer blondes. “Dumb blondes”. When you remember the most common hair stereotype, blonde is the first that comes to mind. Blond women are often displayed in moves as being clueless and ditzy – you know of at least one example of it, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, starring Marilyn Monroe. Though in fact quite smart and brainy, Marilyn successfully used her blonde image for successful career development. Yes, blondes are considered to be sexy, flighty and unintelligent – such a party-lover girls. But actually most blondes are very smart – what about Sharon Stone (IQ level – 154), Madonna and Jodie Foster (MENSA members), Joanne Rowling (one of the most successful women in the world)? All they are blondes.

Brunettes

Now, dark-haired, it’s your turn. Brunettes are considered to be the most common hair colors in the world; this is still true for all ethnicities. Business lady image is strongly associated with the very brunettes: pencil skirt with blazer, sexy shoes, and stylish bag.  Dark-haired women are supposed to be faithful, smart, professional. But you must agree that it is impossible to judge of any body’s conduct according to the color of his hair. Some people believe that brunettes are snobby or too plain, and thus prefer a redhead or a blond girl to arrange a rendezvous. Keep your mind open – hair stereotypes may get in the way! Don’t say “no” to a gorgeous Russian lady with another color of her hair.

Redhead

You’ve known that blondes are dumb, brunettes are smart and clever, but of all the hair stereotypes are the most significant in regard to redheads. The common thoughts are that red-haired have a tot temper, they are impatient, opinionated, even highly sensitive to pain. In ancient Egypt, red hair was believed to be unlucky sign. Redheads were burned there alive. In the Middle Ages red-haired have been targeted as witches. Red-colored hair is considered now as a result of gene mutation and thus is the rarest hair color. The greatest amount of natural redheads is in Northern Europe – 40 percent of world amount, compare with 6-7 percent of red-haired people in the USA. Not all stereotypes about redheads are negative, but they also tend to be exactly inaccurate, that’s statement “Red On the Head, Fire In the Bed” worth. Also, all of them are absolutely exciting and loving.

So, to sum all this up, there are all types of dumb and smart people no matter what color is their hair. All stereotypes can be right or wrong in depend on the person. No one should judge people by the color of their hair because we are what we are, and that’s the only truth.
