Deeply rooted in the Japanese culture and philosophy, the sakura has a special meaning in it and is richly symbolic. The popularity of cherry blossom as a symbol of Japan nation is rather old and is closely connected with the Heian period (794-1185). Actually, the tradition of admiring the views of cherry blossoms appeared in those ancient times. Japanese aristocracy spent a lot of time under the blossoming cherry trees enjoying the nature and composing poems. The deep meaning of sakura is associated with Buddhism, when ancient aristocrats identified cherry blossoms with clarity and courage. Time passed, but the tradition of admiring the views of blushing cherry flowers is still famous all around the world. Moreover, it has its own festival even.
When winter comes to an end, Cherry Blossom Festival is supposed to start. It welcomes an arrival of such wonderful season of spring and means the joy of new life as well. The National Cherry Blossom Fest is considered to be an annual holiday, featuring almost 100 cultural associated events and performances, including Blossom Kite Festival or National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. The date of the Fest varies depending on the weather, however. In the year of 2014 the Cherry Blossoming falls on March, 20; the fest lasts for three weeks and ends on April, 13. The streets are overcrowded – the tourists walk around in order to enjoy the breathtaking blushing. This view’s absolutely spectacular!
