TOUR GUIDE. What to see in Odessa

The list of all the charms of Odessa is endless. Without exaggeration, this is the most colorful Ukrainian city and by itself it is already a tourist attraction.

1. Deribasovskaya Street

What is the most beautiful street in Odessa? Of course, it is the famous throughout the world Deribasovskaya. This is where the acquaintance with the city begins. The street is paved with cobbles and is pedestrian. It is here that the whole center of city entertainment is concentrated, where the history and the present are synchronously intertwined. Everyone has his own reason to fall in love with Deribasovskaya: in length and breadth it is not very big, but something in it is attractive and calm, carefree and cozy – in architecture, and in a lot of cafes, and in the absence of cars.

2. Opera House and surroundings

Walking further in the city, we suggest to go to one of the most beautiful opera houses in Europe. While you approach the Opera House, do not forget to look around, because every house in Odessa is unique. Each of these buildings can compete with each other in beauty. About the Opera House you should know, first of all, the fact that it was built in the distant 1887 by architects Felner and Helmer in the style of the Viennese baroque. The architecture of the auditorium is in the style of the late French Rococo.

3. The Potemkin Stairs

It was built in 1825. The length of the staircase is 142 meters and consists of 192 steps. Interestingly, the top of the staircase seems absolutely straight. To descend on this architectural miracle is easy and pleasant – you are not suffocating, but you are enjoying the sea view. From the upper steps of the staircase there is a wide panorama of the harbor, seaport and Odessa Bay.

4. Cable Car

The cable car is one of the little surprises that Odessa is so rich with. It would seem, who will come to mind using transport to get from the beach to the boulevard? But Climbing the stairs is long and sometimes hard, and you can still have fun and enjoy stunning views. The road leads from Otrada beach to the French Boulevard. Jumping into the booth (as well as popping out of it) must be on the move, so be careful. However, cabs go rather slowly. After the descent, take a stroll along the boulevard, where you can not only relax, but also see the Odessa film studio.

5.Catacombs

Odessa catacombs are an amazing world of ancient underground mines of the 19th and early 20th centuries, located under the city and its suburbs. This is a grandiose system of underground quarries, partially connected among themselves in the form of a large and surprising labyrinth. To get there, you can book an excursion and see by yourself.
