Flowers have always been an important means of communication between men and women. Since ancient times flowers symbolize human feelings: people send flowers instead of letters, give flowers to express love and respect at special events; flowers surround a person from the moment of his birth until death.

Rose. The meaning of rose depends on its color. White roses symbolize the innocence, chastity and purity. By the way, in Slavic countries there is a strict rule to give the odd number of flowers to the living people and the even number to the dead people. There are several theories about the origin of this tradition. For the ancient Slavs the even numbers were the symbols of death and evil. In a lot of ancient cultures the even numbers were associated with the completion, in this case – the completion of life. So the even number of flowers means bad luck and sadness for Slavic women. But of course nobody will count the flowers in a big bouquet, so feel free to give your beloved thy bouquet of million roses!
