National Raspberry Cake Day

Yum-yum, Raspberry Cake! So tasty and sweet, so delicious is it whether you are eating it with a cup of coffee, with some ice-cream or plain cake! Today we celebrate National Raspberry Cake Day and those who have much of a sweet tooth could enjoy with a piece of new-baked raspberry cake.

There are many amazing versions of raspberry cake to have it. You can use an easy recipe of Raspberry Buttermilk Cake or try your hand at more difficult Downeast Raspberry Cake, rather light and topped with fresh raspberries.

Raspberries can be red, purple, black and ever golden in color. The latter have a yellowish (like a goldfish) color, significantly sweeter than the other “colors” and are considered to be a mutated kind of red raspberries. The most common kind is the red raspberries. The purple ones are rare and are grown primarily in nature as they are result of a congruent crossing of red and black raspberries.

Raspberries are the most delicate berry as they have a hollow core in it. When you pick the raspberry, you should smoothly pull on every berry. If it doesn’t come off easily, so the berry isn’t ripe for plucking yet.

Raspberries are a bloody healthy food to eat. They do not contain any saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium or fat (so you can certainly eat your cake with raspberries). Raspberries are high in potassium and vitamin C. Among other things, raspberries are very helpful for people with high blood pressure (they – raspberries, not people – can lower the pressure) and for diabetics as the content of sugar is after eating slowly released into the blood.

Ukrainian ladies especially like raspberries because there is a regular large harvest of raspberries in Ukraine and these berries are one of the most popular and tastiest treats there.
