It is the end of the summer and autumn is coming. And the best place in Ukraine for greeting autumn is Podillya, the center of our country with moderate climate and fabulous nature. Let’s make acquaintance with the heart of Ukrainian Podillya – the National Natural Park “Podilsky Tovtry”!

The National Park “Podilsky Tovtry” is located in Khmelnytsky region of Ukraine (in the western part of country) and has the area more than 250 sq. km. A very long time ago “Tovtry” – rocky cambered ridge – were the coral reefs along the ancient coastline. This ridge is similar to the Australian Great Barrier Reef but Tovtry is much smaller and are located completely on a dry land. Nowadays the altitude of this massif is near the 500 m.The landscape of this park is very picturesque. The canyons of ridge have a big depth that reaches more then 200 m. Weathered limestones form fantastical and grotesque exotic rocks similar to columns, pillars, mushrooms and different chaotic conglomerations. Also there are a few secret caves that were used from ancient times by folk heroes like Ustym Karmelyuk or Oleksa Dovbush (“Ukrainian Robin Hoods”). The legends of Tovtry say that here in one of these caves are hidden the treasures of these brave robbers. And only a very brave and pure heart man can open the cave with all this gold.

However, the true gold of the National Park “Podilsky Tovtry” appears in autumn! The park becomes really entrancing! Different kind of trees sparkle with wonderful colors from dark green and light apple-green to the all sorts of yellow and orange with accomplishing of bright red and wine red. In all of this rave of color you can even find some tints of pink, dove-colored or violet! And all this shining beauty gleams depending on the time of the day and light conditions with sparkles of saturated colors. Thanks to this the park “Podilsky Tovtry” is known as “Beauty Of Ukraine”.
