If you are planning a trip to Ukraine don’t forget to visit the Western part of it, as it has a lot of fascinating places to see and things to do!
Western Ukraine has its own history and traditions. It is as unique as any other country in the world. This part of Ukraine is completely different from all the other regions and that is why every person should be there and feel that special atmosphere. Notice that it would be much better if you trip there will the lady you are in love with, as this place is very romantic. So, let’s see which places you should visit when you are in the one of the greatest cities in Ukraine – in Lviv.
You may start your trip in Lviv from the Rynok Square (Market Square). It is a place with a great history where you can have a walk overlooking the architecture of XIX – XX centuries. It is located in the very heart of Lviv, so you won’t miss to find this place.
Lviv is also known for its handmade chocolate workshop. You may taste delicious chocolate with a cup of your favorite coffee while talking to your beloved lady. Everyone who has sweet-tooth should visit this place for sure!
For sure you have to visit Lviv Opera Theater! It was build in 1900 using forms of Renaissance and Baroque architecture. The Lviv Opera House is one of the most beautiful opera houses in Europe. So you should visit this place and feel yourself as if you were in the previous century.
Speaking of places of culture – don’t forget to visit Lviv Organ Music Hall! It was build in XVII century as a church and started to function as a cultural institution only in 1960ies. The special thing about this hall is that the organ there is the largest one in Ukraine and that it was manufactured by Czech manufacture Reiger-Kloss.
Lviv has its secrets… You should explore its underground labyrinth (try not to miss during the excursion!).
This XVIII century sarcophagus made from a solid stone won’t leave you indifferent! Also there you may have an opportunity to hear some legends about underground inhabitants. That must be rather spooky 😉
Lychakiv cemetery is something that you should see for sure! The famous Town of Dead was built in 1786 and is the last refuge for almost 300,000 people. Among them are renowned Ukrainian poets, artists and politicians. In 18th century the place was re-designed into a solitary park, with beautiful alleys and walks. Add to that 86 fields, over 500 graceful handcrafted sculptures, serene atmosphere and you’ll realize that getting bored here is not at option. Cemetery also houses graveyards for soldiers from Red Army, Ukrainian Liberation Army and Polish military troupes from 1918-1920. A walk there is bound to give you an insightful lesson in ever complex Eastern European history.
If you can dance than you should go to the center of Lviv one more time. And there near the cafe Diana you may have a wonderful dance with your wonderful lady. If you are not an expert in dancing, don’t be afraid – just take your beloved by the hand and try your best. You won’t forget this experience for sure! And if you get tired you may sit in front of dancing people, have a cup of tea or coffee and talk with your magnificent lady.
