Happy Constitution Day and Citizenship Day in United States!

Double celebration always means double joy, doesn’t it? Today there is much to celebrate for the Americans. Each year, on September 17, the citizens of the UAS celebrate Constitution Day and Citizenship Day.  This day is significant for those who have become US citizens and for those who are taking steps to. This day the words “We the People” are deemed to be of significant importance and symbolize unity of the whole nation.

The combined celebration of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day is relatively recent in this form. A day to celebrate a national Citizenship called “I Am an American Day” was celebrated in the third Sunday in May since 1939. After more than 10 years, it was replaced by specially established “Citizenship Day”. And only in 2004 the date of September, 17, was announced as a double event “Constitution Day and Citizenship Day”.

Constitution Day has significantly longer history. The present Constitution Day and Citizenship Day commemorate the most important event in the life of the country. The day when the Founding Fathers signed the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia to create a perfect country with definitely confirmed rights and responsibilities. This year is the 226th anniversary of this event. Since 1787 this document has served as the supreme law of the USA.

What is the constitution for us? First of all, this document guarantees the recognized rights and freedoms. The taken Oath of Allegiance confirms the citizens understand and adopt these rights as well as their responsibilities. The Constitution is believed to be the cornerstone the country’s democracy. Let’s remember the immortal words “I have a dream”. A dream of becoming part of a great nation, a dream about possession the opportunities makes all striving constantly for becoming US citizenship. The luck of having been born in this land is the greatest chance in the life. Russian ladies deeply share  these values and beliefs.
