Munich Oktoberfest-2013 – Beer Paradise

Hey everyone! Do you think beer is all a man needs? Don’t see your life without this drink? If so, you should go out and visit Munich right away. Munich Oktoberfest-2013 has started today!

Oktoberfest, or Munich Beer fest, is considered to be one of the biggest beer events. Most likely, it is the largest fair in the world. The annual number of Oktoberfest’ attendant is approximately six million people. The Oktoberfest is every year overcrowded by fest goers. The fest is believed to be an important integral part of either German or Bavarian culture.

The wide range of souvenirs, among them T-shirts, cups, beer glasses and mugs, designed by Akim Sämmer is breathtaking and resplendent. 14 large tents and numerous small ones are ready to present the old and new ales, brews and sorts of beer.

Traditionally Oktoberfest lasts for sixteen days, so Munich Beerfest has started on September, 21 and goes until the 6th of October  (yes, you still have little time to book tickets there!). This tradition is deeply rooted in 1810, when Ludwig, the Bavarian Crown Prince, got married with Therese, the princess of Saxe-Hildburghausen (so is the reason the fest was named after the princess and called also Theresienwiese). The royal wedding was held on October 17, and this date is considered to be the very beginning of Oktoberfest.

It should be mentioned that this year the beer prices are rather high. 1 liter of Oktoberfest beer costs between € 9.40 and € 9.85. The price of the most expensive “Maß” beer is € 9.85 in the tents of Schottenhammel, the biggest Beerfest tent with 10,000 seats,  Armbrustschützen-Festzelt, that hosts the Oktoberfest crossbow competition, and Löwenbräu-Festzelt. By the way, the last tent is known as the meeting place of “Lions”, fans of TSV 1860 Munich soccer team. Oh, € 9.85, you say! And ask for a lower price. The cheapest beer costs here for only € 9.40, and you should go to the Museumszelt, the Vinzenz Murr Metzgerstubn or the Ammer tents for it.

So what’s on your mind? Beer and beer one more time? Invite your beloved Russian bride to visit Oktoberfesr with you and be part of this amazing Bavarian culture for a short time! Munich is waiting for you!
