Festival of Smithcraft was held in Donetsk, Ukraine. Forged Figures Park, one of the local famous sights, hosts wrought iron artists from Ukraine, Russia and Europe. Iron Man, Iron Tower of Pisa and a windmill are presented by their authors and become new exhibit creations for Donetsk Forged Figures Park.

There are different parks one can find in Ukraine. Zoo parks of Nikolaev, Yalta and Kyiv; numerous Crimean landscape parks and botanical gardens are famous not only in Ukraine. But Donetsk Forged Figures Park is unlike them all, it is a unique park decorated with handcrafted wrought-iron figures to be presented there.

One of the most famous blacksmith cities in Europe, Donetsk is known worldwide as a city with strong indigenous traditions in steel industry. And it is not surprising, therefore, that the idea of such forged works park could have originated there.  Viktor Burdyuk, the director of the Ukrainian Handcrafted Wrought Iron and Forge Company, became the mastermind and the initiator of establishing this sight. The iron bunch of forged roses, which is believed to be the symbol of Donetsk city, was installed there as a first work. Further, over that year ten handcrafted wrought-iron figures were added after. The number of iron sculptures over time increased, so the park founders came to think of alleys to be divided thematically. The first such alley, The Signs of Zodiac, appeared to be created in 2005. The Alley of Fairy Tales, the Arch Alley, the Donetsk Anniversary Alley and the Alley of Architectural Copies (which includes the statues of Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, the Cathedral of St. Vasily the Blessed and Tower of Pisa) followed then. There are above a two hundred wrought-iron figures in the Forged Figures Park today at all. This year thanks to annual International Festival of Smithcraft the park collection adds the statues of Iron Man, Iron Tower of Pisa and a Windmill. This Smithcraft Festival takes place in the Donetsk Forged Figures Park every year and gets the status of international event.
