Hello everyone! How’s your Halloween night? Has the celebration been really spooktacular, ha? Have you had tons of fun? Have you enjoyed your Halloween costume? Hope so! Today is the 1st of November, and today we have a perfect chance to amuse you with the great occasion. Today we celebrate National Author’s Day! Well, do you have a favorite author? So it’s a golden chance to appreciate his\her hard work on writing their masterpieces.
Nellie Verne Burt McPherson, the President of the Bement Illinois Women’s Club, suggested to celebrate Author’s Day in 1928 in order to thank her favorite author Irving Bacheller, known as the author of “Eben Holden’s Last Day A Fishin”. She worked as a teacher and was one of the most faithful fans of Bacheller. One day she wrote to this fiction writer a letter to express her enthusiasm on his work. Bacheller answered with the words of gratitude and a copy of his next novel with an autograph. So McPherson proposed to choose Author’s Day to honor the work of writers. Later, in 1949, the date of November 1st was recognized by the U.S. Department of Commerce as National Author’s Day.
Reading is considered to be one of the most common ways of either rest or relaxing and the ways of knowing about the reality surrounded as well. When we were young, we read books for children – Tales of Uncle Remus, The Black Stallion series, Hobbit, all the Nancy Drew series, Chronicles of Narnia, Hardy Boys book, Treasure Island and so on. Then the list of books was changed – Catcher in the Rye, One Flew the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Mark Twain’s novels. However, the more we grow, the more challenging growth becomes. Today we are fond of George Martin’s “Song of Ice and Fire” Series, Stephen King’s novels and stories, James Patterson, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams “Hitchhiker’s Guide” books. We look for the talented authors and couldn’t wait to read new masterpieces. It would be good to read something different for a change – from SciFi to detective stories or fantasy as well. However, it’s a pity that we often have no time for reading. It should be mentioned that almost all gorgeous Russian ladies do really read much, so you easily find a like-minded girl here. Isn’t that wonderful – to discuss the last reading trends?
So, who’s your favorite author?
