Well, with a cheer spirit and joy, we are glad to congratulate you on the anniversary of cheerleading on this day of November. Are you ready to rock?
Although cheerleading counts about 100 years, it has an intense history. The history of cheerleading has rooted in ancient times, especially it concerns the early Olympic Games and the Roman Coliseum games. However, the beginning of cheerleading is considered to be closely connected with the USA and the 1880s. If it comes to the first organized cheer recorded, it was at Princeton football game in 1880. The cheer sounded as “Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah! Tiger! S-s-s-t! Boom! A-h-h-h!” and was rather simple and unpretentious, but it had played its role well, pumping the team and going the crowd nuts. The story had got a connection – in year of 1898, when Johnny Campbell, a student, leading the crowd during the football game at the University Of Minnesota. The Campbell’s cheer was “Rah, Rah, Rah! Ski-u-mah, Hoo-Rah! Hoo-Rah! Varsity! Varsity! Varsity, Minn-e-So-Tah!” In such a way Johnny Campbell began to be well known as the founder of cheerleading.
Cheerleading has changed a great deal since then. So, started from the male cheerleading, this sport quickly became more feminine one. After all, people prefer to be cheered up with the gorgeous spirited girls, don’t they? Actually, everything concerning cheerleading – from uniforms to performance elements – has changed. Over the years, the cheerleading rules have terribly changed. Cheer as a constituting part of sports has evolved from jumping in place and waving pom poms to complicated choreographed performances with the elements of acrobatics, gymnastics and dance, developed cheers and songs. Cheerleading has become extremely popular all over the world. It involves the activities of a number of people today, including mascots, coaches, judges, sponsors and spotters. Gorgeous Ukrainian and Russian ladies often take part in it, pumping the favorite teams in such a way. Being a cheerleader is considered to be prestigious, but taking part often requires making significant efforts.
