Happy Housewife Day!

“No laborer in the world is expected to work for room, board, and love – except the housewife”

          Letty Cottin Pogrebin

Hello to everyone! Today is more informal holiday to celebrate, but no less either interesting or worth mentioning. Moms, stay-at-home wives, all the ladies who choose to stay home and to be domestic goddess – this holiday is dedicated to appreciate all their invaluable contribution to the comfortable safety of the home.

Katherine Hepburn believed being a housewife and a mother is the biggest job in old days when a man could solely provide some income and a level of protection to his family. There was no real need for a woman to work, and most of them enjoyed it. Housewife was the only one career for a woman who respected her responsibilities and duties. They were home moms; they stayed at home, took care for their children and managed the home. Being a mother and a housewife was considered to be a norm for a woman. A financial crisis changed this state of things.

So, the 3rd of November believed to be Housewife Day, or National Housewives’ Day. We don’t know exactly the origin of this holiday; however, this day is an additional perfect opportunity to congratulate all housewives and to emphasize their valuable contribution to family developing. Their efforts are really important.

As you may know, gorgeous Russian ladies are not actually as interested in their careers as Western women. In fact, nice and quiet family life gives Russian ladies much more joy and self-realization. Family values always remain the main priority for all ladies regarding the patriarchal tradition of the country. But family’s devotion is prominent – they may like the idea to become a housewife and care about the children and family, but Russian ladies also will be able to materially support for the family when occasion required.
