So the International Day of Marriage Agencies is celebrated on February, 12, on the eve of St. Valentine’s Day. The first International Day of Marriage Agencies took place on December, 1^st, 2010, initiated by one of international Ukrainian Marriage Agency. This occasion was inspired by a number of reasons – dating agencies’ popularity, increasing of total amount of clients and the agencies’ involvement in rendering such services. The International Day of Marriage Agencies was held for the first time on February, 12, 2010, and later was registered as an unofficial holiday by the State Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on December the 1st, 2010. Since then February, 12 became the international date for this Marriage Agencies’ holiday. Hundreds of dating sites and marriage agencies observed this holiday by taking some gift events. Spread around the world after 2010, this idea quickly worked its way and became popular among marriage agencies of such countries as Canada, the USA, Italy, Germany, Spain and many others.

As a matter of fact, marriage agencies had long appeared as a kind of rendering special services. The first marriage agency was considered to appear on September, 29, 1650, when Henry Robinson, an Englishman, opened the first dating office, The Office of Addresses and Encounters. It was a combination of a dating agency with the advice bureau as well as employment agency. It’s a pity, but its working was rather short – the Robinson’s Office had been working about a year only. But since then the services of marriage agencies have been so popular. A total amount of clients is incredibly great, and that one can easily understand: today people practically live online, so virtual marriage sites are increasingly popular.
