The holiday was established not too long ago, in 1961 by the International Theater Institute. This organization unites experts on dance and theater arts and they work on development of them, as there are so many media entertainments that lots of people turn away from such classical types of art. They encourage youth all over the world to participate in dancing and theater and establish various competitions and events for everyone who is interested in performance art. They make really big contribution into this sphere.
During the World Theater Day lots of troupes gather to show their mastership. There is also one person chosen every year to write and to deliver speech on this event (the so called International Message), and this tradition has been kept since the year of the holiday’s foundation. After the speech is pronounced, it is translated into over 20 languages, and dozens of thousands of spectaculars all over the world have an opportunity to read it. The celebration is held in Paris, so there is another reason to visit this romantic city which attracts couples from all corners of Earth.
